To outsiders, Zhou Hang was gloomy and cold-blooded, someone who never let a grudge go unanswered. He was the cautionary example neighborhood parents used to scold their kids: "If you don’t study harder, you’ll end up like Zhou Hang."
But to Xu An, Zhou Hang was considerate and gentle, the kind of person who would place the whole world in front of him and still feel it wasn’t enough.
Xu An couldn’t speak. He was mute, and the only way he could ask Zhou Hang was in sign language: "Why don’t they love us?"
Zhou Hang peeled a lollipop and held it out to him. "It’s okay. I’ll protect you."
Zhou Hang kept his promise. Even covered in wounds, he protected Xu An and made sure he could live in safety and peace.
