Spoiler-heavy synopsis:
On the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, college student Fu Yun meets a golden-eyed man in ancient robes by the Qinhuai River. He claims she is the Fu girl he risked opening Wu Gang's Gate to find, and demands that she go with him to a place called Nanyi. Before Fu Yun can ask him anything, they come under a fierce attack. Everyone on the street is killed or injured, except Fu Yun, whom the man protects with arcane magic as they flee through Wu Gang's Gate. But they are pursued again and separated. When Fu Yun wakes, she has somehow returned to the appearance she had at fourteen, in an unfamiliar world resembling the Qin and Han eras. After enduring countless hardships, she finally finds Bai Ji, only to discover that he is still a young man who has barely come of age...
What kind of world is this? Why did Bai Ji bring her here? Even when they meet again, Bai Ji cannot answer her. And by the time she learns the truth, she has already been swept up in a political struggle she cannot escape, all because of a prophecy passed down through the ages...
Romance-style synopsis:
Because of him, she was left with no family or friends. Because of her, he lost his family and home and became disabled in both legs.
Between them, who owes the other more?
Perhaps their fates were tightly knotted together from the day they met.
The debt between them could never be repaid, not even with this kingdom.
In short:
1. For the related events, see the first book, "Boundless Empire." For certain reasons, the first book was not serialized on JJ. Since pirated copies are so rampant these days, just search for it on Baidu. You can also read this book on its own if you aren't interested.
2. This story is a slow burn. Some characters who appear early just to fill out the scene may later become important enough to send others off to fill out the scene, so please be patient.
3. The male lead is the male lead because a huge chunk of the story later is devoted to him. So please let me bring him on around the 20,000-word mark, when he will still look like a little boy, but not quite as much of one.
Thank you. A bow, and exit.
