[Greek Mythology] Hades

For millions of years, Hades had resolutely refused to join her two womanizing younger brothers. She had even considered swearing by the River Styx to join the ranks of the three virgin goddesses.

However, when she fell for Demeter's son despite herself and drove her chariot to abduct him back to the Underworld, she gazed at Persephone, the spring god, who looked completely at ease and acted as if the Underworld were her own home, and fell into deep thought.

"A prank by Eros?" Persephone asked, tilting her head toward the Queen of the Underworld as she tossed the ferocious three-headed hellhound around for fun. "So what?"

Was this really the gentle, shy boy of legend?!

Shocked by the bold and extraordinary spring god, Hades said, "...I don't think we should just casually decide to get married. How about I take you back to your mother's side?"

To her surprise, Persephone stepped closer, braced one arm against the wall beside her, and reverted to the pitiful puppy-dog act.

"Does that mean Sister Hades doesn't love me anymore?" the spring god said sadly, burying her face against Hades' neck. "I'm so sad. Don't leave me, please. Persephone wants to be with her gentle, kind, beautiful big sister forever."

Hades: Oh, hell no. (Not a plant.)

And so, the plan to break off the engagement was put on hold.

In short, this is the everyday story of the Queen of the Underworld and her adorable husband.

Note: Hades is gender-swapped in this story, and the pairing is with a gender-swapped Persephone.
