1.

Wen Ming always thought she was someone special.

After all, a fortune-teller said she was destined to be wealthy, and that she'd strike it rich after her twenty-eighth birthday.

Then she made it through the high school and college entrance exams, graduated, got a job, and fell in love. At every turn, she gave it everything she had to fit in with the crowd.

On her twenty-eighth birthday, her boyfriend of three years cheated on her, and she was forced to quit her job.

Only then did she finally realize she was just as ordinary as anyone else in this vast world.

Wen Ming had known all along that the fortune-teller was a fraud.

But she'd been lying to herself, too.

She had decided that her life would be dull and meaningless.

Before that, she finally let herself spend the money to see the sea she'd always wanted to see.

There, on the beach, she met Chen Jianxia.

2.

Wen Ming thought Chen Jianxia was absolutely crazy.

She was sitting by the sea, just wanting to look at it.

Chen Jianxia suddenly appeared beside her. "The world could end any day now. Just take it one day at a time."

Wen Ming turned around. "Shut up."

After her emotions settled, Chen Jianxia asked, "Why don't you want to live anymore?"

Wen Ming said, "I'm too ordinary. I can't find a reason to live."

Chen Jianxia sighed. "Everyone is ordinary. You just can't see your own good qualities."

Wen Ming eventually figured it out: she was destined to be wealthy.

Maybe her fortune was Chen Jianxia.
