The son the Shen family had lost was found. Everyone expected him to compete with the adopted son for the family fortune. Who could have guessed the son the Shen family found was a fool?
At their first meeting, Shen Chen slapped away the candy Xue Bao offered him. But later, he coaxed him into eating candy while holding one in his mouth, then kissed Xue Bao's palm and said, “The beauty mark between our Xue Bao's brows is redder than a red bean. You're such a little bodhisattva with a sweet tooth.”

The mute boy couldn't voice the thoughts in his heart, couldn't speak of them. Every night, behind warm red curtains, the tender beauty could barely bear the emperor's attentions.
