From the time he was born until he turned seventeen, Rong Zheng never seemed to be liked by anyone. His family was struggling financially, so he worked odd jobs in his spare time to help out, but after his parents took the money, they turned around and accused him of neglecting his studies. He came first in his school exams, but his younger brother accused him of cheating and even forged evidence to frame him. Someone he thought was a good friend stole his math research, used it as their own, and earned a recommendation to a top school. Afterward, they even gloated about it in front of him.
Rong Zheng thought his life couldn't get any worse, but fate played a cruel joke on him. He was suddenly told that the people he had thought were his parents weren't his biological parents: he had been switched at birth. Just as he thought he might finally have a normal family, life played another cruel joke on him. His biological parents had already given all their love to another child. Whenever they faced him, a child raised in the slums, their smiles were awkward and they struggled to find the words. His biological older brother also thought that, having grown up in the slums, he was full of bad habits and could never compare to the little prince in the castle. Everyone could ignore him and treat him coldly...
He told himself it was fine. Once the college entrance exams were over, he could escape all of this. With his grades, he was sure to get into the university of his dreams, and then he could do whatever he wanted. But after he had filled out his application and was joyfully holding his admissions letter in his hands, it hit him like a bolt from the blue: the letter was for a school and major he hadn't applied to at all! When he confronted his parents, they told him to give up his place and let the other child have it, just because that child was in poor health and had missed the entrance exams, and couldn't attend the school they liked.
Rong Zheng decided they could do whatever they wanted. He was done with them. So, the day before university started, he disappeared.
Five years later, Rong Zheng returned to his homeland with PhDs in mathematics and theoretical physics from the world's top universities, along with countless awards and accolades. As he devoted himself to building the foundations of the country's scientific infrastructure, the people who had once hurt him all came running to beg for his forgiveness.
Hah. Forgiveness? Where were you before?
No whitewashing, no forgiveness.

I researched the math and theoretical physics, but I'm not smart enough to understand it, so I'm just making things up. Please ignore any plot holes.
