Xia Tingfeng was the most inconspicuous person at Number One High School.
His grades weren't outstanding, he always wore black-rimmed glasses, and he was quiet and reserved, more like an extra than a background character.
No one knew it was deliberate.
He'd planned to keep a low profile like that, until he became deskmates with the school heartthrob, entered a physics competition with him, and even... became his friend. The rumors around them grew louder and louder. People said he hid his eyes because he was ugly and covered in pimples; that his grades didn't qualify him for the competition and he'd gotten in through connections; and they even dug up his rather troubled background.
Xia Tingfeng hadn't wanted to pay them any attention... until someone asked the school heartthrob whether they were really friends, and the other boy fell silent. That pushed Xia Tingfeng back into the eye of the storm.
Xia Tingfeng was exasperated.
He'd wanted to quietly get through high school without drawing attention to himself, but it seemed that wasn't going to happen.
After the turmoil, the midterm exam results came out, and the top student in the grade had changed.
"It's not Wen Yu? Then who? Xia Tingfeng?!"
On Monday, the classroom erupted in chatter and speculation. Amid the commotion,
a ridiculously handsome boy appeared in the classroom, silhouetted against the light.
The whole room fell silent.
The pen in Wen Yu's hand snapped.
Those brilliant eyes, like a precious pearl covered in dust, had finally seen the light of day again.
