At a post office in the 23rd century, they discover an unsent love letter from 200 years ago. Its date of receipt, however, is today.
Then the managers of the space-time tunnel realize the handwriting belongs to their boss.
Shi Hua accepts the mission.
She must return to 2023 and make sure Ningcheng No. 1 High School’s top student doesn’t date or get into fights before the college entrance exam, and studies hard every day. This will ensure that the future’s youngest space hero stays on the right path and successfully builds the space-time tunnel.
On her first day, she sees the name Qi Jian on the honor wall. The boy is devastatingly handsome, but arrogant and unruly, shattering the dreams of countless girls at No. 1 High.
Shi Hua takes note.
Then the rumors begin.
A transfer student has arrived in Class 7. She’s fresh-faced and pretty, with a cool expression that’s both cute and commanding.
The only problem is that she seems a little dim. She spends all day following the school bully around with a blank face, holding up a little sign that says, [Study hard, improve every day].
Later, Shi Hua hears her classmates talking: “If she follows him again, Qi Jian says he’ll break her legs.”
Shi Hua is troubled, and for once, skips school for a whole day.
The next day, a familiar voice asks students around the school:
“What brand of wheelchair do you recommend? It has to be electric.”
He has long legs. Otherwise, she can’t keep up.
He plays basketball, and Shi Hua carries a whole barrel of bottled water in case he runs out.
He arranges a fight, and Shi Hua arrives early to take down all thirty of his opponents with shoulder throws.
Someone confesses to him, and Shi Hua says earnestly, looking troubled, “Love is the biggest obstacle to human progress. Studying is the only truth.”
After following him for nearly half a semester, Shi Hua discovers that their school writes the grades on the honor wall in reverse to encourage struggling students...
Darn it, she’s been following the very last-place student!
She goes back to doing her job and dutifully supervises the actual top student, with the same deadpan attitude. She doesn’t even bother changing the sign she holds up.
The last-place student, wearing his uniform properly for once, blocks her at the school gate. “What’s going on? Why aren’t you following me anymore?”
The girl tells him sadly, “If the space-time tunnel isn’t built, I won’t have a home.”
The day the tunnel is completed, the whole world is in an uproar.
A global broadcast comes from outer space. When the host asks Mr. Qi Jian, the man who built the tunnel, what he wants to do most next, he remains as spirited and cool-faced as ever, but a touch of tenderness appears in his eyes behind the space suit.
The letter he wrote appears on camera:
“I want to see her, even right now.”
Date of receipt:
2223-10-10
“If it’s for you, I can do it too.”
