Synopsis 1
On his eighteenth birthday, Ye Mu was suddenly told that he was a fake, and that the real young master was Ye Mian, the person he considered his best friend.
Ye Mian put on a show of pleading for Ye Mu, but every word struck at the Ye family's sore spots:
"It's true that Ye Mu took my place and lived in luxury for eighteen years, but he was innocent."
"It's true that I suffered hardship all these years, but none of it was Ye Mu's fault."
So everyone felt sorry for Ye Mian, while Ye Mu became a laughingstock overnight.
That night, after the party ended, Ye Mu was kicked out of the Ye family.
Ye Mu couldn't accept it. He didn't believe his parents and older brother really didn't want him anymore, and he didn't believe Ye Mian had been using him all along.
Until the day a cruise ship met with disaster. When forced to choose between two people, the older brother who had once doted on him most decisively abandoned him.
The childhood friend he'd spent eighteen years trying to please was even more ruthless, not sparing him so much as a glance.
In the final moments of his life, he finally believed that they had truly abandoned him, completely and utterly.
Then Ye Mu died, in that snow-filled winter, in a sea awash with the stench of blood.
Synopsis 2
In his previous life, Ye Mu was abandoned by everyone and died a miserable death at sea.
This time, he'd learned his lesson. He calmly moved out of the Ye home before his eighteenth birthday party and blocked his childhood friend.
At first, no one thought it mattered. After all, they had already found their real treasure, Ye Mian.
So what if he left? He was just a fake. He couldn't compare to even a single strand of Mianmian's hair.
But when they saw Ye Mu nestled shyly in the arms of his childhood friend's uncle, his childhood friend was red-eyed with rage. He had always followed the family rules, yet now he recklessly defied his uncle.
His older brother reached out with a hoarse voice, wanting to pull Ye Mu into his arms, but all he touched was empty air.
Ye Mu's parents wept bitterly and begged him to come home.
Most outrageous of all was Ye Mian. In his previous life, he had hated Ye Mu so much he wanted him dead. Now he cornered him against a wall and coaxed, "Be good, A-Mu. Come home with me, and I'll give you back your young master's status."
Synopsis 3
His mother cried every day as she held a photograph of the young master of the Ye family. On closer inspection, the pampered young master's face bore a striking resemblance to his mother's. And his mother was always saying things like how much she owed him. Clever from a young age, Ye Mian uncovered his mother's shocking secret:
A nurse at a hospital had switched two babies, so her own child could enjoy a life of wealth and privilege.
Of course Ye Mian was furious. He couldn't accept that someone had taken his place in life, or that a fake was impersonating him and enjoying a life of luxury.
So he got into the same university as the impostor who had stolen his identity. Then he deliberately befriended the impostor, pretending to be weak to win his sympathy, and successfully used him to meet the Ye family.
At last, the truth came out, and the Ye family took him back.
He should have been happy, but when he saw the impostor's shocked, pained expression at the birthday party, he couldn't make himself smile.
Still, he took advantage of the Ye family's guilt toward him and drove the impostor out of the house.
But he never imagined the impostor would die silently in that blue sea.
Ye Mian suddenly remembered a boy who had once walked toward him against the light, chased off everyone who bullied him, and smiled, showing off a little pointed canine. "Don't be scared, Mianmian. I'm the young master of the Ye family. With me here, they won't dare bully you!"
Back then, he'd thought: Who needs you to protect me? I'm the Ye family's son, not you, you fake.
But now he regretted it. He regretted making Ye Mu sad, regretted driving him out of the house, and regretted that Ye Mu had died in that sea.
No one would ever gently call him Mianmian again and promise to protect him.
He curled up in sorrow and thought, "Ye Mu, I want you to protect me so badly now. Didn't you say you would protect me? How could you die first?"
That night, he fell into a deep sleep through his tears.
When he woke, he had returned to the morning he first met Ye Mu.
He timed it just right, deliberately letting a group of thugs corner him in a narrow alley, waiting for Ye Mu to pass by.
But this time, Ye Mu coldly took another route.
Ye Mian ran after him and asked pitifully, "Ye Mu, they're all bullying me. Could you protect me from now on?"
But when he saw the disgust and coldness in Ye Mu's expression, his whole body stiffened.
