A Long, Longing Wait

Many years after graduating, Shi Xingqi found her old high school phone. She had secretly brought it to school back then and captured three years of little moments. The album was full of snapshots of youth. After sorting through them, she slowly started posting them to her social media. One after another, high school classmates she had known and those she hadn't came to add her as a friend and ask for the original photos. One friend request read: "Hello, Shi Xingqi. I'm Yan Zheng." She stared at that friend request for a long time. After accepting, she sent him all the photos. She thought for a long time, then sent another message: "There's one more photo of you. I must have taken it by accident. Do you want to see it?" In the photo, the sun was setting. The track was nearly empty, and the stands were deserted. Wearing his school uniform, he leaned against the wall at the back row and dozed. The crimson glow of the sunset fell across his handsome face, like a dream stolen from their youth. He was the long, long-awaited hope that had gradually faded into the distance, but would never be forgotten. --Secret crush / happy ending / sweet romance-- Theme: A healthy, fulfilling relationship takes effort from both people.
