[Update notice: These updates are revisions, with the occasional extra. I’ll be fixing details and trimming wordy descriptions, but for now I won’t be revising major plot points.]
Under the family planning policy of the 1990s, the Xu family had a daughter, Xu Chengyue. Grandma Xu would tell everyone she met,
"What a shame she’s a girl. The Xu family will have no descendants."
As an only child, Xu Chengyue grew up happily under her parents’ loving care and never felt lonely.
She had friends by the bucketload.
At first, it was just her sweet, understanding best friend and a stern, old-fashioned family patriarch. Then she kicked her best friend’s cousin into the mix, along with a pair of "Chibi Maruko-chan" twins who came out of nowhere.
From then on, her life was a noisy, chaotic whirlwind.
She has lots of friends, but she knows that some are just friends, while others can’t be just friends. But
"We can still be friends even if we don’t date, right? We grew up together, after all. If I fall for someone else someday and bring him to meet my childhood friends, you’ll be sitting with the rest of them, won’t you?"

Jiang Yunbei never thought he had much ambition.
His hardworking parents had made their fortune, so he was content to be a comfortably well-off second-generation kid, occasionally playing the generous benefactor. He was an average student, had a few true childhood friends and a little hobby, and spent every day teasing cats and dogs. Life couldn’t be sweeter.
That is, if he hadn’t fallen for that silly childhood sweetheart.
He had to study hard to keep up with her; spend money and effort to make her happy; and keep his eyes peeled to drive away rivals...
Little by little, he got used to it and found himself enjoying it.
During the years he had no choice but to move abroad, he thought, If only I’d fallen for her two years later.
Reader’s Guide:
1. Childhood sweethearts, ensemble cast, and a chaotic coming-of-age story about country kids.
2. This is my first time writing an ensemble cast. I welcome constructive advice, but please don’t argue. I won’t delete comments, and negative reviews are welcome too.
3. A slice-of-life story, with rural life making up the first third.
4. Check out my completed works in my author’s column.
Theme: Perhaps life’s first lesson is learning to grow up well.
The old goat meets a chivalrous girl who is not enlightened, and the road to chasing his wife is long.
It seems that there is no word "living room" in the rental house. It should be one bedroom and one living room.
I found that although the author's writing style is not gorgeous and elegant, it can describe life and emotions in the simplest words and sentences. This is a style that I really want to see now. The author needs to write more.
