I Heard You Want to Fight My Dad

The first time Matsuda Jinpei met Hakuba Yuna, she had him pinned against a wall by the school gate.

People were coming and going all around them. Even worse, several of his fellow trainees were standing nearby, watching.

His face turned bright red. Seeing his fellow trainees trying to stifle their laughter, he nearly exploded with anger and desperately sent them SOS signals with his eyes.

Unfortunately, his so-called friends not only pretended not to notice, but also watched the show with relish as they chimed in.

Furuya Rei: I never thought Matsuda would get confessed to by a girl!

His mischievous childhood friend: And she's a high school girl, too! Take your chance, Jinpei!

Morofushi Hiromitsu: She's a very cute girl. Matsuda, you should give it some thought.

Date Wataru: This girl suddenly reminds me of Natalie.

Just as he was at a loss, the girl suddenly leaned closer and, in a voice only the two of them could hear, ground out, "I heard you're the one who wants to beat up my dad?"

"Huh?"

Hakuba Yuna had heard something from her friend Natalie. According to Natalie's boyfriend at the police academy, one of his fellow trainees had become a police officer with the goal of beating up the Commissioner General.

The Commissioner General? Wasn't that her own idiot dad?!

Yuna was beside herself. She immediately started keeping watch outside the police academy every day. She wanted to see which bastard had the nerve to say something like that!

From that day on, Matsuda's life became a living hell.

Hagiwara patted Matsuda on the shoulder with a solemn look. "Jinpei, Yuna-chan's waiting for you at the gate. I'll get you the afternoon off. Good luck! That's all I can do for you!"

"Good luck! But I won't go easy on you in arrest techniques class next time." That was Furuya Rei.

Matsuda: ??? Hey, what on earth are you people thinking?

Later, after spending a long time together, Yuna realized that Matsuda was actually a pretty decent guy.

"So why do you want to beat up my dad?"

Matsuda scratched his head. "Why does there have to be a reason? I just want to beat him up. Ow! Young miss, why'd you step on me?"

All he got in reply was Yuna's angry retreating figure.

In the end, Hagiwara was the one who solved the mystery for Yuna.

It turned out that when Matsuda was a child, his father had been wrongly arrested, causing him to miss an important boxing match. After that, his father never recovered, and the person responsible was the current Commissioner General.

Yuna: Then shouldn't I at least give my idiot dad a good beating on Matsuda's behalf?

When Yuna got home, she didn't say a word before driving an elbow into her idiot dad.

Another peaceful day in the Hakuba household.

1. This is a fluffy romance with very little brainpower involved. Don't read too much into the details. There may be a bit of OOC, since this is fanfiction.

2. There are lots of headcanons. If anything differs from the original, it's probably a headcanon. For example, the Commissioner General at this point in the timeline should be Momota Rikuro, but I made him a Hakuba and promoted him early. He just gets an extra blame to carry, so let's call it a fair trade: □
