As a boy, Lu Rongchuan lived with his parents in a cowshed.
The cowshed was bitterly cold and infested with pests. Lu's parents accumulated many hidden injuries, and gout was the hardest to endure.
At first, their attacks were brief. Lu Rongchuan could just about manage on his own after bringing food back from the cafeteria.
As his parents grew older, their gout attacks lasted longer. Lu Rongchuan struggled to balance work and family, and reluctantly decided to hire a housekeeper.
Who could have guessed that the humble young housekeeper who came to the interview would seem like a different person overnight? Her clothes were still pieced together from the same old patches, but somehow they now had a different appeal.
What was more, Lu Rongchuan realized that the young housekeeper was always trying to seduce him.
After bathing at night, she would leave her hair wet, letting water drip onto her clothes and show off her porcelain-white skin. She would hurry over to him with a lunchbox, her ample, peach-like breasts bouncing as she went. When he stayed up late reading in his study, she would always appear to fuss over him.
Lu Rongchuan put up with all her little tricks. He wanted to see how long the young housekeeper could keep it up.
But one morning, he woke to the sticky mess beneath him and the night of passion in his dream. He knew he could no longer hold back.

Shen Hui had no idea how many blows had landed on her. Everything before her eyes was blurred.
Pain coursed through every inch of her body.
In a daze, a cold, low voice rang out, full of anger:
"Mother, Shen Hui threatened me. She said that if I didn't give her the contract of sale, she'd tell my cousin she was carrying my child. But I've never touched her, Mother."
What a clumsy, false excuse.
Blood and sweat streamed down Shen Hui's forehead. She knew Madam would never let her live.
She only hoped that in her next life, she could be born a man and control her own fate, no longer sold from one person to another.
Her parents sold her to work as a servant in a wealthy man's household so that her older brother could study.
She spent ten years working in the kitchen, wearing coarse clothes and saving every penny, all for the chance to leave and be free one day.
Later, the young master's fondness for her pastries got her transferred from the kitchen to the front courtyard, where she diligently served under the senior maid.
One day, for reasons she could not understand, the young master said he would give her money so she could get her contract of sale back and leave. He even found a place for her to live.
After that, she found herself lying on the ground as blow after blow rained down on her.
It turned out that the senior maid in the front courtyard had feared Shen Hui would take her position, or even become the young master's concubine. She had set a trap to frame her and bring Madam into it.
When she opened her eyes again, she had become another Shen Hui in the 1980s, the young housekeeper in Lu Rongchuan's home.
