Xin Yu is a goddess of the Nine Heavens, blessed with peerless beauty. Yet one encounter in her youth with the young general Chi Yang changed the course of her life forever.
She is part fox and part phoenix, bearing the bloodlines of both clans. After sacrificing her own magic power to seal away the world-destroying flames, she unexpectedly rose from the ashes, reborn as a phoenix, and broke the seal on the soul of the phoenix within her.
The Phoenix Clan has rarely appeared in recent times. Some even claimed that the entire clan had been wiped out in the great war a hundred thousand years ago. So when the seal broke and strange omens appeared in the sky, the Phoenix King's people immediately went to cover up what had happened, allowing her true origins to remain hidden.
Only after breaking the seal and following the king to the Land of Dreams did she learn that the man she had thought was her father was not her father at all. The one standing before her was. She was not a princess of the Heavenly Clan, but a princess of the Phoenix Clan.
But if she was reborn, why did she have to bring all her old memories with her?
She tried drinking herself into a stupor. It didn't work. She tried searching the Mirror of Death for rare and wondrous beasts. It didn't work. She tried to forget him, but every last detail about him remained crystal clear, tormenting her day and night. What she didn't know was that, during the time she spent mired in despair, an even greater conspiracy was slowly taking shape in the Heavenly Realm...
