I Lose, You Win

The first time I saw Qi Changzhao was at the school anniversary celebration, where he spoke as the student representative.

He was the unreachable dream of all the girls, the warmest, most beautiful summer breeze of their youth.

Shi Ge was just one among countless people brushed by that breeze, nothing special at all.

They met again at university, where she accidentally walked in on someone confessing to him.

He pulled her into his arms, her head bumping against his chin.

“This is my girlfriend.”

After sending the girl away, he asked her, “What's your name?”

He didn't even know her name.

Somehow, she became his official girlfriend, but only for show in front of other people.

After graduation, he casually said in front of his parents that he wanted to marry her. At last, she realized this absurd farce had to end.

All he'd given her over the years was false affection, nothing more.

The day she disappeared, he went mad, searching every domestic flight.

Years later, Qi Changzhao found her, only to see her with his own eyes, clutching a bouquet and weeping as she told someone else, “I do.”

He undid his suit jacket, his sinister gaze sweeping over her.

One day later on, he lifted Shi Ge onto the desk. She casually found her graduation photo in his drawer. In it, he stood behind her with a ring box in his hand.

His eyes were full of her.

“You've owed me all these years. Work out how much you have to pay me back each day.”

Shi Ge bit into the strawberry he'd fed her, blushing. “I don't know what you're talking about...”

He leaned closer and chuckled softly. “I said I'm hungry.”
