Shi Ciyu's family was very wealthy. Unfortunately, when he was in sixth grade, a leak of confidential company information nearly bankrupted them. Now he attends an elite school, and with his family on the verge of bankruptcy and no one powerful to back him, he gets bullied. From sixth grade through ninth grade, he spends four whole years in darkness. He thinks that if he just endures it, people will stop picking on him.
But he is wrong. He thinks that if he tells his parents and teachers, someone will help him. But his teachers do nothing, and his parents are busy with work. He begins to feel that no one will ever help him. So he becomes very good at pretending. In front of teachers, parents, and friends, he is well-behaved and cheerful. But when no one is watching, he beats up the people who bullied him.
When he is bullied in his first year of high school, Tan Yuan happens to see it and saves him. From then on, Tan Yuan keeps helping him. Shi Ciyu doesn't understand why. In his final year of high school, he gets into a fight for Tan Yuan and breaks his leg. When Tan Yuan finds out, he spends a week beating up each of the people involved.
In the hospital, Shi Ciyu sits on his bed and asks in confusion, "Why did you fight for me?" Tan Yuan smiles and asks in return, "Then why did you fight for me?" Shi Ciyu's face turns bright red. He says softly, "Because I like you." Tan Yuan replies, "Then that's perfect. I like you too."
