Is It Wrong to Let the King of Despair Save the World?

To gather his sister's soul, William made a deal with the “World.”

“Save this collapsing world.”

That was what the “World” told the boy.

The many worlds had collided with one another, and were on the verge of destruction.

“Humans are utterly pitiable. Their foolishness... is far too pure and single-minded.”

On the rooftop, the boy slowly turned to face the person approaching him.

Japan's Public Security police pointed a gun at the boy who called himself the “King of Despair,” his expression grave. “William... No, wait. Who are you, really?”

The blond boy stood at the edge of the rooftop, his long dark-blue coat fluttering in the wind. Like a bird separated from its flock, he seemed utterly alone.

The night was dim, but his red eyes shone brilliantly.

He laughed recklessly, utterly unlike the somewhat reserved William Macbeth in Amuro Tooru's memories.

The blond, red-eyed boy raised a hand and swept it down over his face, tossing his well-behaved bangs back with a carefree gesture. His smile was wild.

“By the way... why don't you try guessing my name?”

A boy who stood outside life and death, embraced by despair.
