Center for the Study of Abnormal Monsters

After graduating from college, Wen Yin spent three years taking the civil service exam. She failed again and again, but kept trying.

At last, she made it to an interview.

Then a string of absurd questions nearly fried her CPU.

"Have you read The Classic of Mountains and Seas?"

"Do you think androids dream of electric sheep?"

"Do you have faith? Do you believe in ghosts and gods? No matter what happens, will you uphold the Core Socialist Values?"

"One last question. Do you think I'm a normal person?"

Desperate to pass the interview at any cost, Wen Yin had no choice but to play along.

The interviewer stood up, dropped her disguise, and revealed white hair and a pair of horns.

"All right, congratulations, you're hired!"

Wen Yin: What the heck? Am I crazy, or has the world gone crazy?!

After the founding of the country, spirits weren't allowed to become monsters. But what about those who became monsters before the country was founded?

Welcome to the Non-Human Anomaly Research Center!

To protect the world, and for love and peace, we must be on standby at all times. If the Earth isn't exploding, we're not taking a day off!

What? Overtime pay? No, we work out of love!

Nuwa: The head of the research center, still pulling all-nighters at her advanced age. Seriously, I could cry.

Baize: The earliest programmer in history, once a database expert, now a librarian.

Yazi: The guitarist for the death metal band Nine Sons. Bad-tempered and not to be messed with. The guitars he's smashed each year could stretch around the Earth.

Then there's the fox spirit who found a new career and successfully switched to the pig-butchering scam business: What did I do wrong? I just want to give everyone a home!

The rat spirit cuts costs and boosts efficiency, upgrades the industry, and becomes a cyber thief of copyrighted works: B-but it's something scholars do. Can you really call it stealing?

And what's next? The world's gone mad! A mouse really is serving as a cat's bridesmaid!

Wen Yin: Is it too late to run? Whoever wants this civil service job can have it!
