Qi Nian, who was terrified of ghosts and deeply superstitious, went to Courtyard No. 4 because of a curse and brought home an ancestral spirit tablet. He even left a red banknote, thinking that would settle the transaction. Instead, he accidentally completed a purchase agreement and "bought" a ghostly ancestor to take home.
That night, while Qi Nian was sleeping soundly, a tall figure appeared beside his bed and clamped both hands around his neck.
Just then, a chime rang in his ear, and Qi Nian jolted.
When he woke again, he was wearing a dress and sitting in a taxi. The driver was singing about parting and death in a ghostly voice, and they were headed for a crematorium.
