During a population boom, countries expanded their territories into space in search of habitable planets, giving rise to planetary trial residents.
They pilot spaceships through the vast, boundless universe, like fireflies drifting through a summer night.
That's why planetary trial residents are also known as interstellar fireflies.
During this time, to raise the profile of planetary trial residents, the reserved Xu Yanqi is invited to take part in the live variety show Journey into the Life of a Planetary Trial Resident.
As the team leader, he must take several popular celebrities to an unknown planet.
Faced with a group of big-name stars who shriek at the slightest thing for the sake of the show and ask questions about everything they see, Xu Yanqi grits his teeth and tells himself to put up with it.
After all, once this job is done, he can retire early and enjoy his golden years.
Then he spots Qi Mo in the crowd.
The hottest singer around, Qi Mo always appears wearing sunglasses, his lips firmly shut.
If nobody talks to him, he can go half a day without saying a word.
Qi Mo, Qi Mo. The name itself sounds like someone who doesn't talk much.
Xu Yanqi is overjoyed and takes Qi Mo to be a refuge for his soul.
Whenever the noise gets to him, he goes to Qi Mo to recover.
But Xu Yanqi has spent so long cut off from the world, and he works in stretches measured in years. He doesn't know that the entertainment industry has a thing called a public persona.
By the time he realizes it, the whole interstellar community is shipping him and Qi Mo.
Xu Yanqi, who's gradually picking up entertainment-industry lingo: Qi Mo's public persona is falling apart. You fans haven't noticed?
Fan 1: How is it a broken persona if he's only chatty around you? That's obvious favoritism!
Fan 2: Ah! I found a real couple! Mo-Xu is the best ship ever!
Fan 3: I'm bringing the marriage registry over right now. Get married this instant!
Mini Scene:
Xu Yanqi: I've used up all the words I can say today. No spending tomorrow's words in advance. Please speak only as needed. Thank you for your cooperation.
Qi Mo: Punctuation doesn't count. If you remove the punctuation, I've still got some words left.
