Song of the Deep Palace

Book blurb:

[Scheming Princess vs. Mad New Emperor]

The Nanyun Kingdom fell.

Nanyun Fei, the beloved eldest princess, stood alone before the palace hall with a sword in hand, hoping to stop the marauding invaders from razing her homeland.

The bandit chief strode toward her, drenched in blood. Blood dripped from his sword. His face was as cold as frost, his aura murderous, like a demon crawling out of hell.

The princess couldn't help trembling under his contemptuous gaze.

The court changed hands, and a new emperor took the throne, though rumors abounded about his true identity.

Until one day, beneath a peach tree in the imperial garden.

The princess, cheeks flushed with anger and embarrassment, grabbed the new emperor by the collar and demanded furiously, "How dare you, you lowly slave!"

*

A lowly slave who had long coveted the beauty was once caught "accidentally" peeping at the princess's jade feet. The former emperor had him flogged a hundred times and driven from the palace.

Later, that slave wandered from place to place, survived countless brushes with death, and fought his way back to the capital. He climbed the nine tiers of stone steps and finally saw the woman of his dreams.

In his dreams, he had gritted his teeth and sworn countless times that, when he saw her, he would ask:

"I saw the princess's jade feet, so what? What are you going to do about it?"

Content warnings:

1. Forced marriage and possessive pursuit, with lots of melodrama. Read with care.

2. The second male lead is also a lunatic.

3. Both leads are virgins. Happy ending.
