My next book, *Singing Together at Summer's End*, is about childhood friends living together. If you're interested, please add it to your reading list.
“Time knows how wonderful you are. The best place for me in this life is by your side.”
“His secret crush finally comes true + she falls in love after marriage + he helps her heal”
After being pressured to marry, Shi Jinnan went on several bizarre blind dates and decided she would fight back to the bitter end.
But her resolve crumbled once again in the face of her mother's tried-and-true tactic of crying, so she reluctantly agreed to one last blind date.
Her final match, Shen Dongting, had both exceptional looks and impressive substance. He was a top law student, and the law firm he founded was one of the best in the province...
Given his credentials, Shi Jinnan couldn't understand why he had announced on the spot that he wanted to marry her, when she was so far beneath him in every way. After the date, he even insisted on taking her home, using the opportunity to meet her parents.
Her parents were delighted with the tall, handsome, and refined Shen Dongting. Her refusal seemed feeble and futile.
After a sleepless night spent thinking it over, Shi Jinnan decided to marry him. She figured that, given time, feelings would grow.
And so, just three days after their blind date, Shi Jinnan impulsively went with Shen Dongting to register their marriage, out of sheer defiance.
On the night they registered, Shi Jinnan nervously reached out, trembling, toward the belt of Shen Dongting's robe. But he gently took hold of her wrist. “I know you can't adjust to this all at once, so I won't force you. I'll wait until the day you're truly ready to accept me.”
Six months after registering their marriage, the two held a wedding.
At the wedding, when the emcee asked how they had met and come to know each other, Shen Dongting gazed at Shi Jinnan with eyes as gentle as water.
“She and I met on a blind date at the start of this year, but I've admired her for eleven years.”
Only then did Shi Jinnan realize that Shen Dongting had sought her out for that blind date at the beginning of the year. The person she had mistaken for her unrequited first love had been herself all along.
Later, under Shen Dongting's gentle, loving care, the walls around Shi Jinnan's heart gradually began to melt.
Completely immersed in happiness, she suddenly felt grateful that her parents had stood their ground and helped her meet the best person she could ever hope to spend her life with.
Reader's note:
The male lead is a lawyer who doesn't want to inherit the family business.
The female lead works as a secretary, and does freelance work as a webcomic artist on the side.
(This book was inspired by the bizarre blind dates I saw over the New Year holiday. That's why the female lead comes from a dysfunctional family and her first three blind dates are all strange. I also wish everyone who's being pressured into blind dates finds a partner as gentle, handsome, and wealthy as the male lead.)
The companion novel, *Where Thoughts Find Peace*, is about a female director and a male investor. It's connected to this book: the male lead is the brother of this novel's male lead, who is the female lead's boss. It's a sweet, doting story about two people reuniting after a long separation. Feel free to check it out!
I'd also love it if you added my other upcoming books to your reading list. Thanks for your support! My next contemporary romance will most likely be *Singing Together at Summer's End*, a childhood-friends story.
My next book, *Singing Together at Summer's End*, is seeking readers. Please add it to your list...
If you ask who Xia Weiwei is most afraid of, the answer is naturally Yu Chaoge.
Actually, Yu Chaoge isn't fierce at all. He's the kind of child elders point to as an example for everyone else.
Xia Weiwei is afraid of him because she feels guilty. When she was a teenager, she got a cavity, and her mother strictly forbade her from eating sweets. An older student tempted her with chocolate and asked her to deliver a love letter to Yu Chaoge.
Yu Chaoge was the son of the family next door, which made them childhood friends. He was three years older than her, and they say there's a generation gap for every three years of age difference. She had always felt that they belonged to different worlds, and delivering a love letter would be crossing a line. But the chocolate...
After agonizing over it for three minutes, Xia Weiwei agreed. But then she was misunderstood.
Yu Chaoge furrowed his handsome brows and said sternly, “Why would a little girl learn to write love letters?”
“It wasn't me...” Xia Weiwei burst into tears on the spot and blurted out the whole truth in one breath. As luck would have it, her mother happened to overhear her while passing by.
In the end, her mother hauled her home and gave her a scolding. She nearly got a beating, too.
As they grew up, her parents often teased her about the incident. Xia Weiwei thought it was the most embarrassing thing that had ever happened to her.
But then...
After graduating from college, she planned to rent a place of her own. Auntie Yu was so eager to help that the elders from both families foisted her off on Yu Chaoge to look after.
Living under the same roof, awkward things were bound to happen.
On the third night they lived together, Xia Weiwei passed Yu Chaoge's room and heard strange panting from behind the firmly closed door. She was so frightened that she ran for her life.
On the thirtieth night, Xia Weiwei came home late and tried to climb over the wall. A pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind and lifted her down. She was so startled that she forgot to breathe.
On the third month's evening, Xia Weiwei passed Yu Chaoge's room and heard an intensely dramatic performance coming from inside. The words were from a novel she'd written!
She suspected Yu Chaoge had been sneaking a look at her novel, but she didn't dare confront him. The story contained some extremely suggestive scenes, and she couldn't bear to embarrass herself a second time.
