The setup is that she's the Shitenhoji captain for a time in the Hira Zenji Kingdom, in the same year as Uncle Ootori and the others.
Because she's had different experiences, this version of Tamahime has a tougher personality, is funnier, and is much more outgoing, with a tendency to become everyone's big sister. (Actually, this is what Tamahime's personality becomes in the main story after she becomes captain.)
