Above the Blazing Sun [Crime Investigation]

This is the final installment of the crime investigation trilogy. The first book is Beneath the Abyss, and the second is In the Midst of Dawn: Crime Investigation.

The fact that the head of Hengtianshi's Criminal Investigation Unit is henpecked has long been an open secret. Whenever people see Captain Jiang looking so full of himself, they can't help shaking their heads and sighing.

The new coworker doesn't understand why everyone is shaking their heads. She bravely asks, and hears the following gossip:

"Oh, I heard Captain Jiang has to kneel on a washboard every night when he gets home."

"A washboard? He has to kneel on a durian, you mean."

"That's basically the same thing. The main point is, Captain Jiang..."

Eyes wide with excitement, the rookie listens eagerly. When the other person stops talking, she spits out a sunflower seed shell. "Hey, sis, what's up with Captain Jiang?"

"Yes, what's up with me?"

Hearing the ominous voice behind her, the young officer shrinks her neck, tosses the seeds in her hand, and bolts for the door. Oh, heavens, somebody save her!
