Turning My Childhood Friend into My Wife

Jiang Yi, the son of the Yan family's steward, grew up on the Yan family estate.

When Jiang Yi was five, the Yan family brought their beloved youngest son, Yan Muzhen, back from abroad. Worried that the boy wouldn't adjust to his new surroundings, they arranged for Jiang Yi to keep him company.

From then on, Jiang Yi became Yan Muzhen's little shadow, following the young master everywhere.

Yan Muzhen didn't want to leave his grandparents and return to his parents at all. He'd been taught from a young age that crying and making a fuss was both improper and useless, so he kept everyone at arm's length with his cold, hard temper. Then this two-years-younger tagalong showed up and wouldn't leave, no matter how often Yan Muzhen chased him away.

Once, when Yan Muzhen missed his grandparents, he couldn't help shedding a few tears.

Jiang Yi remembered Madam Yan's instructions to cheer his older brother up, so he gave him his favorite doll. "Don't cry, big brother."

Yan Muzhen glared at him with red eyes. "Who's crying?"

Little Jiang Yi understood from then on that his brother was toughest of all when it came to admitting anything.

Yan Muzhen didn't like this tagalong one bit. Sure, he was as cute as a doll, but he'd seen Yan Muzhen cry. That was so annoying.

Little by little, they studied and lived together, inseparable.

Later, whenever someone picked on Yan Muzhen, Jiang Yi, cute as a doll, would risk his life to protect him.

Looking at the little arms and legs shielding him, Yan Muzhen thought, When he grows up, I'll protect him. No one will be allowed to lay a hand on him.
