Synopsis 1
The fragrance of poetry endures, and none shines brighter than I.
The Wen family of Lianxi has been renowned for its scholarship for a hundred years, producing one talented person after another. Its inner quarters are no less rich in literary talent. Take Wen Lingru's two older sisters, for example: beautiful and clever, their reputations for talent fill the capital.
Wen Lingru is the youngest daughter of the Wen family. She grew up in the countryside and didn't return to the capital until she was a young maiden. The world knows her two older sisters, but not her. She doesn't mind, for she is easygoing by nature, has no great ambitions, and only wants to live a carefree life.
She had already set her sights on the young son of her neighbor, Attendant Chen, back in her hometown. He was handsome and gentle. Most importantly, he liked her too. He blushed whenever he saw her and promised that the two of them would be together for life.
She thought her future would be as clear as the stream flowing past her door, its waters gently running within sight. Until one day, she met someone else...
Synopsis 2
The Crown Prince, Yuan Zhen, is gentle and refined, a true gentleman. As he nears the age of twenty, the Emperor and Empress wish to arrange a marriage between him and the second daughter of the Wen family.
He once loved someone else. When he was young, he left the capital incognito and was rescued by a girl as lovely as a mountain spirit. With skin as white as snow and beauty like an orchid in a secluded valley, she captivated him at first sight. He wanted to take her back to the capital, but she said she couldn't stand the stifling rules and formalities of a wealthy household and wished to spend her life in the countryside. He did not want to force her, and reluctantly said goodbye.
But when he personally went to the Wen residence to deliver the betrothal gifts, he saw that girl leaning against his future wife, laughing and chatting merrily. In the hall stood a handsome young man, smiling at her with deep affection in his eyes.
It was then that the Crown Prince, who had always seemed as bright and clear as the wind and moon, realized that his heart could still be unsettled by her.
