In her previous life, Qi Jiuyan was denied so many things she longed for.
Born in the countryside and plain-looking, she was lucky enough to embark on the path to immortality. But then she coveted the world-famous sword immortal. Alas, she schemed and plotted, yet everything still slipped through her fingers like sand. The harder she tried, the more she came away empty-handed.
At the Longevity Platform, with thousands watching, that person spoke coldly and calmly, lamenting, "You never cultivated the five virtues. You have the heart of a wolf and the eyes of a rat. What a waste of that exquisite glass bone, grown on the wrong person."
Jiuyan refused to accept it.
Only after she died did she learn that she was in a storybook world. As a supporting character whose ambitions reached the heavens, she was meant to commit every kind of evil: betray her own people, ally with the demonic path, and plunge the Nine Provinces into chaos. That way, the heroine could rightfully take her bones and her sword, restore order, and ascend to heaven with her beloved.
Watching it all unfold, Jiuyan even had to admit that compared with the heroine, who understood the greater good, her own thoughts really were twisted, and everything she had spent her life pursuing was absurd and laughable.
In her second life, inside an ancient temple, the Buddha statues lowered their eyes as a young immortal, just recovered from serious injuries, asked what she wished for.
She blinked and sincerely gave the exact same answer as in her previous life:
"Ten thousand taels of gold."
The immortal scoffed. "Vulgar."
But from life to death, and from death to life, she was just an owl pretending to be a phoenix, a vulgar person through and through.
Vulgar people belong in the mortal world. Celestials must climb the steps to heaven.
Fifty years of absurd dreams: I brush away the dust, and my heart grows light.
Yet who could have known that even without her meddling, the steps to heaven would still break, and the demons would still come? As the land fell into ruin, the sword immortal who had once looked down on everyone came down to the mortal world himself and bowed his head to ask for her help.
Only when Jiuyan looked back then did she realize that, at some point, she had become the high moon in this world of cultivation.
Everyone resents the moon hanging high in the sky, shining on everyone but me.
P.S.:
1. Groveling, a love-triangle showdown, and a worksite in progress (not really).
2. Ghost woman and ghost man, all in one pot. BG, not 1v1.
