Guan Zhu feels every day as though she is struggling on the brink of starving to death.
While her peers are still floundering in the sea of schoolwork, she has already had more than her fill of life's hardships. She is busy taking odd jobs wherever she can to make money, has no friends, and has no time to study.
Because she is so tired, at school she can only keep her energy output at a bare minimum by wearing a blank expression. Then one day, some bored idiot shows up and insists on provoking her at every turn, doing everything possible to make her life harder.
Guan Zhu: Damn it!
Qin He has been described by his therapist as extremely intelligent, but naturally emotionally detached and mildly misanthropic.
In his short seventeen years of life, almost nothing has ever interested him.
Then one cold winter day, he discovered a living corpse at school.
The "corpse" barely moved and had no expression. She spent her days spacing out and only reacted when someone called her name. Qin He even wondered whether someone had to push her along when she walked.
But one day, they were assigned to the same exam room. Sitting behind her, Qin He watched as a crumpled-up ball of paper hit the back of her head.
She turned her face slightly, expressionless. Just as he thought she was about to get angry, she made an "OK" sign under the desk, then shifted sideways to reveal her completed answer sheet.
...Were corpses this helpful these days?
Curious, he copied all her answers and ended up with the lowest score of his life.
...Well, I'll be.
In his eyes, there were two tiny, utterly different versions of Guan Zhu: one like a cloud that couldn't drift away, the other like a shining little sun. Qin He thought she was such a fresh diversion in his dull life that he couldn't help wandering around her, poking her here and there and observing how she reacted.
Then one day, after teasing her, Qin He noticed that her face had turned red.
Strangely, his heart skipped a beat, and he blushed too.
Before meeting Guan Zhu, Qin He thought this lousy world could be destroyed completely. After meeting her, he thought this lousy world could still be destroyed, but Guan Zhu had to be spared.
A poor but hardworking and optimistic heroine x a smart, mildly misanthropic hero
