In my version, Oda pulled Dazai away with him to the Armed Detective Agency when Dazai was seventeen, but still died in his duel with Gide at the age of eighteen.

Dazai was also gravely injured, and the trauma led to a diagnosis of psychogenic mutism. His self-destructive behavior grew increasingly severe, so Edogawa Ranpo made the decision to entrust someone to "cure" him.

The events in the City of Fog also happen earlier. Well, basically... the timeline is... a mess... Haha. (I originally wanted to set it in an alternate universe without abilities, but then realized I couldn't make it work, so I had to return to the original timeline. Tears.)
