The day Shen Zhiyi broke up with Fu Qian, the first snow of the winter had just fallen in Mohe, and the cold cut to the bone. Carrying her camera, she was spotted by an enraged brown bear. Just as her life hung by a thread, a tranquilizer dart shot through the forest, and the enormous beast crashed to the ground.

Zhou Shiwen came trudging through the snow and held out a large, dry hand. Gasping for breath, she hesitated for a long moment, then chose not to take it.

Two months later, Shen Zhiyi traveled to Tibet. A blizzard had closed the mountain passes that day, and every hotel around Namtso was full. Zhou Shiwen walked toward her unhurriedly from upstairs, his gaze calm. "Reporter Shen, there's another bed in my room. If you don't mind, I'll only charge you half."

*

After they successfully rescued a Tibetan antelope about to give birth in Hoh Xil, she happily grabbed his hand, then quickly let go.

Zhou Shiwen couldn't help smiling. "Reporter Shen, why are you afraid to look me in the eyes?"

Shen Zhiyi: "..."

Later, she had to go on a blind date she couldn't get out of. The man who hurried over had lost his usual composure and gentleness. He grabbed her hand. "Shen Zhiyi, I've chased you across the northern frontier, the borderlands, and the plateau for so long. Am I really no match for him?"

Shen Zhiyi felt a dull ache in her chest, unable to give him a definite answer.

Then one day, Zhou Shiwen was grazed across the cheek by a poacher's bullet while saving a lone elephant. He covered his eye and sighed quietly. "Oh no. Now you'll like me even less."

Hearing that, Shen Zhiyi rose onto her tiptoes and kissed him.

"If you're solid ice, then I'll be a basin of gently smoldering coals, waiting for you to melt."

"I love you, and I don't mind if you play the coward for a while."
