Imperial Sister

All the ministers knew that the emperor in white, immaculate as fresh snow, was ruthless and bloodthirsty to the core.

He hated a fuss.

One day, he brought back a princess from the mountains. They said she was Emperor Xuan's older sister. Every day, she smiled brightly at Emperor Xuan, chatted with him about everything, and fussed over him.

Emperor Xuan treated her as a new, foolish pet. He often toyed with the little princess's feelings, making her shoulder the blame for him and even forcing her to kneel for hours to pray for his well-being.

Sometimes, when he grew tired of her, he would look at her slender neck and feel the urge to kill her.

Before he could act, the late emperor's remaining loyalists attacked him, warning him to remember his place. How dare an impostor lay a hand on the sole surviving member of the imperial clan?

He lay wounded in bed as the little princess clasped his hand, tears in her eyes and the tip of her nose red from crying. "Our parents are gone. We only have each other now. Little brother, you must get better. Don't leave me."

A comforting smile appeared on Emperor Xuan's pale face, but his eyes were ice-cold. He said jokingly, "I will. If I die, I'll have to take big sister along to keep me company."

Later, he came to relish the little princess's special affection and exceptions. Being an impostor became the secret he tried desperately to keep hidden.
