The Devoted Supporting Lady Went Mad After Seeing the Comments

Chong Yao is the Holy Maiden of Xidu, born to a prominent family. Her father is the city's ruler, her mother is a princess of Fengtai, and her betrothed, Di Lin, is a talented young man her father has chosen as his successor.

Chong Yao and Di Lin grew up together, childhood sweethearts who knew each other inside out. She has always dreamed of ruling Xidu alongside Di Lin, their marriage filled with deep affection.

On the eve of their engagement, she gets lost in a mirage and witnesses a horrifying scene.

A sea of blood surges as mountains collapse. Xidu is destroyed, and the one leading the assault is the man she loves most. Di Lin murders her parents right before her eyes, then admits he never had an ounce of genuine affection for her. It was all an act, forced by the circumstances.

After that, she begins seeing inexplicable lines of text everywhere.

[Can someone tell me which episode Chong Yao learns Di Lin is the Crown Prince of Fengtai?]

[Watching for the second time, and I wish I could rush in and tear Di Lin apart.]

[Chong Yao could easily rule the city herself. Too bad she's blinded by love.]

These unseen "people" always manage to predict what will happen.

So Di Lin has been lying to her all along? He'll kill her loved ones and destroy Xidu in the future?

At the engagement banquet, a line of text floats by.

[Any man you randomly grab from this courtyard would be better than Di Lin.]

With the jade scepter in her hands, all Chong Yao has to do is give it to Di Lin, and they will be joined in marriage, never to part for all eternity.

She tears off her phoenix crown and strides up to a ghost servant.

"Take this jade scepter, and I will grant you limitless wealth. All you have to do is swear that you will never betray me, for all eternity."

Wei Yan has lain in wait for decades, and at last he has reclaimed his kingdom.

Amid the ruins of Fengtai, he pulls the dragon seal from Di Lin's chest. Then he joins it with the phoenix pendant and presents this symbol of command over the world to Chong Yao.

Just as he once promised:

"I will never betray you, for all eternity."
