Irie Meishuku is a friend of Akaya Kirihara, a second-year regular on Rikkai University's tennis team. His greatest regret is probably copying Kirihara's English homework.
He got six points, and Kirihara got four.
But their shared struggle with English forged a deep friendship between them.
After going to the tennis club for the 108th time to wait for Kirihara so they could go to the arcade, only to be turned down by his friend Kirihara because of practice, Irie Meishuku made up his mind: he was going to end their friendship!
The upperclassmen at Rikkai University all knew that their second-year ace had an unreliable buddy: late, always getting lost, gaming all night, sleeping in class, failing English. Going to the arcade was the least of it.
After their captain brought the guy to the tennis club, they finally met this infamous junior and declared, "I want to be Irie-kun's best friend too."
