[The story begins with their reunion, and the male lead starts pursuing his wife from the very first chapter. Includes flashbacks, a prodigal man turning over a new leaf, melodramatic wealthy-family drama, and some showbiz elements.]
In her second year back in Beicheng, Qin Shu has concealed her identity and become the most unremarkable voice actor in the industry.
She lends her voice, but never shows her face.
She was born with a beautiful voice, clear and cool as Jiangnan mist and rain, lilting like an oriole singing beside a spring brook. To make ends meet, she worked as a ghost singer for the popular opera star known as Fifth Miss, performing "Ode to Pear Blossoms" at the Huajing Grand Theater in her place.
The hall erupted in applause. In the VIP box, a man who had been resting with his eyes closed suddenly opened them.
Good news came from backstage. "Fifth Miss, Mr. Shen sent word that he's coming every Friday to hear your special performances. Congratulations!"
Ghost-singing for someone was unethical, and Qin Shu only did it once. No matter how much more she was offered afterward, she refused.
She heard that after that performance, Fifth Miss became Mr. Shen's companion.
But before long, the tabloids brought terrible news: popular actress Fifth Miss had lost her voice and retired, and a rising star of the performing arts had fallen!
On the day the story broke, a friend teased Shen Guantang. "You're ruthless. You just ruined such a seductive little voice without a second thought."
The man held an old, yellowed photograph and gazed intently at the woman in it. Irritated, he said, "If I can't lure her out, what's the point of keeping a fake around?"
Better to destroy her and be done with it.

At eighteen, Qin Shu made her stage debut at the Bailumen.
One song, "Golden Night, Jade Dew," enchanted all of North China. One glance over the railing, and without warning she set fire to the barren first half of his life.
That day, snow fell thickly over the capital,
while starlight spilled across the night sky.
Shen Guantang, surrounded by his entourage, walked past beneath the stage. With an arrogant air, he glanced back at her as if without a care.
That single glance swept over the endless sea of people. Only later did he realize it was the first seed of love buried deep in his heart.

One of his men stopped Qin Shu. "Miss Qin, Brother Tang would like you to come over for a chat."
She refused lightly.
His man immediately spat. "Don't be ungrateful! Do you even know who Brother Tang is? No one in North China dares say no to him. If you've got a death wish, just say so!"
Who was he? His family background was powerful and mysterious. What wasn't mysterious was that he was a notorious playboy, adored by the other rich young men and able to summon them with a single word.
Back then, he wasn't yet the inscrutable, strategic Mr. Shen.
He was young, reckless, and arrogant, treating women like playthings.
In the end, he had her, but never her heart.
"Xiao Shu, I'm letting you go. Are you happy?"
She never gave him an answer that year.
Eight years later, they met again, and the usually warm and elegant Shen Guantang lost control in front of the media for the first time.
"...Come back, please." Leaning on his cane, his eyes reddened as he reached out and tugged at her sleeve. "The place of Mrs. Shen has always been yours."
It was yours before, it is yours now, and it will be yours in the future.
Shen Guantang loved only one person in his life.
From beginning to end.
He loved her humbly, cautiously, and with painstaking care.
Miss Qin x Mr. Shen
"May we enjoy this bliss, in heaven and on earth, every year on this very night."
Theme: A gripping, serious drama.
