In a storm or a whirlpool, the calmest place is right at the center.
Asagetsu Mutsumi's life was a small miracle: born into a world of bloodshed, she grew up in the uncanny calm of its windless eye.
She slipped past the spiders' clutches and grew up safe beyond the Blood-Eyed Crows' sight.
Asagetsu Mutsumi was a lucky child. By the time the legacy in her blood finally bared its fangs at her, she already had that person by her side.
Her very own "absolute defense," able to block every drop of blood rain that came pouring down on her.

"Are you all right?"
"Mm. It doesn't hurt anymore."
Ten-year-old Asagetsu Mutsumi gently touched her chest, feeling through her clothes the cursed seal that had just been branded there.
"I never planned to betray Sunagakure anyway. If this puts them at ease, that's fine."
Her reflection in Gaara's jade-colored eyes lowered her gaze, looking a little tired. He closed his eyes, then suddenly spoke.
"I'll take care of it."
"Hm?"
"Your life shouldn't be in their hands."
[Your life shouldn't be in anyone's hands.]
Gaara spoke calmly.
"So I'll take care of it."
[I will become Kazekage.]
The heroine is gentle and introverted. At times, she may seem timid and dependent, so please take note if that's not to your taste.
The heroine is part Kurta and part Uchiha. She specializes in genjutsu, but isn't very strong in anything else.
This is a sweet, fluffy story that follows the original plot, with almost no angst.
Theme: Quiet children can find happiness too.
