After Breaking Off the Engagement, My Ex-Fiancé Rose to Chancellor

Lu Yanqiu, born into the wealthiest family in Pingjiang Prefecture, had a marriage match everyone envied.

But her fiancé's family suffered a sudden upheaval, and the Lu family's business was dragged down with it.

Faced with the pleading eyes of her entire family and the livelihoods of over a thousand people, Lu Yanqiu swallowed her pain and went to the Wei family to break off the engagement.

Years later

Under Lu Yanqiu's leadership, the Lu family's business had spread throughout the Great Shun dynasty.

The young man who had once been trampled into the mud had risen to the highest office in the land and returned home in glory to pay respects to his ancestors.

In everyone's eyes, Lu Yanqiu, who had broken off her engagement when the Wei family fell on hard times, had become a prize to be won by currying favor with Chancellor Wei. Everyone wanted to take a shot at her.

Just as everyone waited to see Chancellor Wei return and Lu Yanqiu regret her actions, weeping and begging for forgiveness, the very man everyone said must hate her most blocked her path.

Lu Yanqiu's eyes widened in alarm, and she stumbled over her words.
