Her friends bet Yan Guozi, "Chu Xi definitely hates you."
Yan Guozi walked over to the man sitting alone in the distance and sat beside him, offering him the can of cola in her hand.
She thought the cold, aloof man wouldn't take it. To her surprise, he did, and even let her prank succeed, getting sticky cola all over his hands.
"A-Xi."
Chu Xi ran his fingers over the can. "Yeah."
"If you tell me you like me, A-Yi will buy me a car."
Chu Xi turned his head and gazed down at the restless sea. "I won't lie to your brother."
"Then we'll sell the car and split the money."
"Yeah, I like you."
The night grew lonelier, and the lights along the shore gradually went out.
The waves soaked Chu Xi's shirt. He picked up the cola beside him and hooked a long finger under the tab.
The cola bubbled and fizzed. His veined hand was instantly covered in droplets.
The sea breeze blew, and he could almost hear the girl's triumphant laughter in his ear: "He likes me. He admitted it himself..."
He rubbed the last sticky traces of cola from his fingertips. The clinging residue was irritating. He tilted his head back, took a sip of cola in the salty sea breeze, then stood and strolled back, lazily carrying the can.
