[Douluo Dalu] A Native Gets a System (Ning Fengzhi)

Ning Fengzhi once thought he had no regrets. People make plans, but fate decides the outcome. He believed he could accept any ending with composure.

He sent Ning Rongrong to Shrek Academy to join a new team and make friends, weathering all kinds of opposition from within the clan to do so. He had no regrets.

After the Heaven Dou Palace Coup, he used a forbidden technique to burn Xue Ye's life force and restore his senses in order to stabilize the situation. Even when the Heaven Dou royal family later stripped him of his power and treated him with suspicion and hostility, and the fortunes of a thousand-year-old foundation rose and fell amid fierce power struggles, he had no regrets.

He gathered talented people around him and planted the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's agents, openly and in secret, in both empires. He also welcomed low-ranking Soul Masters and commoners as followers, giving them safe territories and bringing them under his command. He had no regrets.

He hunted down talented people who could not be made to serve him, to prevent trouble down the line. He had no regrets.

But when he picked up, one by one, the remains of the Sword and Bone Douluo, and glimpsed the declining fortunes of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, he regretted it.

He had worked hard for decades. First, he was the leader of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect; then, a friend of the Sword and Bone Douluo; and finally, the father of Ning Rongrong and a close friend to Tang San and the others. Ning Fengzhi knew exactly what he should choose.

Why had years of careful planning come to nothing, even after he achieved his goals?

Why did Ning Rongrong become a god, yet leave the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to decline?

Why had he given everything for Heaven Dou and the Tang Sect, only to be treated with suspicion and hostility and stripped of his power?

Heaven was far too unfair, Ning Fengzhi thought.

It turned out that even the gods, who seemed so upright and honorable, and the sects, which seemed so righteous, were no better than consorting with tigers.

"Do you want to change your fate?" A mechanical voice suddenly appeared in his mind. It was a classic, tired plot device, showing up when he had almost nothing left.

"I, Ning, am willing to give everything."
