Synopsis
Irene Shafiq had been a diligent, well-rounded student ever since she started school, but her luck was absolutely terrible, especially that day.
Normally, when she went out, people would call her nothing worse than “bookworm.” But this was no ordinary day. On her way to the library, eager to devour some books, she somehow got a permit to enter the Restricted Section and happened to discover an ancient tome. Just as Irene was thinking this was the most wonderful day of her life, she went to open the book and study it carefully, only for the tome to “swallow” her.
She had worked so hard, yet this was how it all ended. Deep down, she lamented the injustice of her fate. Perhaps someone truly heard this near-obsessive wish and decided to give her a fair chance.
She felt as if she had slept for a long time. When she woke up, she discovered that she had become a little girl.
After living for eleven whole years as Cho Chang, Irene received a letter from the school she had left halfway through: Hogwarts. And so began a school life that couldn't quite be called “legendary,” but still had its own unique qualities...
Back at Hogwarts, Cho thought things would be much easier this time around. After all, she had often been top of her year before. But she was wrong. Unbeknownst to her, in the decades since her “death,” the entire wizarding world's standards of education had risen by several levels. To satisfy her competitive nature, Cho once again began her old “delightful” routine.
So while her classmates confessed their love to each other, Cho was reviewing her lessons.
While her classmates were cuddled up together, sweet as could be, Cho was studying ahead. And after her classmates had fallen in and out of love time and again, Cho was preparing for exams.
When an older student who had secretly loved Cho for years confessed to her, she asked him to explain a problem.
When a younger student who had secretly loved Cho for years confessed to her, she tried to sell him her notes.
After the two of them comforted each other and concluded that Cho was a clueless blockhead who did nothing but study, she finally experienced her first love.
She had lived two lives, but was still a girl. Whenever she was with him, her heart raced wildly. Whenever he smiled at her, her cheeks turned red. Whenever she saw him happy, she couldn't help feeling happy for him.
This was the first time Cho Chang, or rather Irene Shafiq, had ever felt this way. When she complained to her friends that she might be sick, none of them could laugh. It wasn't until she was finally willing to give up her first-place spot that she admitted she had truly fallen for that boy.
That's right, Cho had fallen for him, and he was the only one for her.
Many years later, Cho still couldn't say whether she had been lucky or unlucky. But when it came to meeting Cedric Diggory, she was luckier than anyone.
