Synopsis
Female Lead's POV:
"I've forgotten when I first started paying attention to Xie Chen."
I remember that he sat to my left, and I sat to his right. He would help me collect my exam papers and gently say, "You're welcome." During those few days of exams, my thoughts began to wander. Again and again, I stole glances at his back from the corner of my eye, and a nameless flower quietly blossomed in my heart. The weather was clear and sunny. Bright sunlight fell on his hair and cheeks, sometimes catching in a hazy halo. I felt a faint warmth rising from deep within me.
After the exams, I anxiously waited for the grades to go up on the results board. So his name was Xie Chen...
--Morning
I greeted him as usual.
"Morning, A Chen."
"It's A Jin. Good morning."
After school--
The sun was setting, its fading light falling across the road. I secretly stepped on his shadow as I walked behind him, for a long, long time.
"Silly girl, if you don't turn soon, you'll end up at my house," Xie Chen suddenly said, turning around.
I couldn't stop in time and crashed into his arms. Startled, I was about to pull away when he suddenly held me and said, "I won't let you go."
I nodded and waved at him to show that I understood.
When I reached the middle of the road, Xie Chen suddenly shouted, "Watch out!" "Beep!!!"
"--Bang"
I lost consciousness. I could only feel liquid flowing out beneath me.
Male Lead's POV:
She died.
Actually, I'd known she was dead for a long time. That's right, all of it was something I imagined. The truth wasn't like that.
That day after school, I was walking along the road. The sunset was beautiful, and for some reason, I thought of Yao Jin. I think I'd really fallen for her.
Suddenly,
I heard a "Beep!" Then came another "Bang." Trembling, I turned around and saw the last thing I wanted to see...
Tears welled up and spilled down my face before I even realized it.
"Doctor...! Come quickly... There was an accident... Hurry!" After giving them my location, I collapsed to the ground. I was right there, but there was nothing I could do.
Just like that, the news spread throughout the school. As I walked around campus, I always felt she was still there, still alive, but everything was nothing more than an illusion.
I wanted to keep living in my fantasies, but everything happened so suddenly. I never thought this dream would end so soon.
--
My mind began to wander. I kept thinking she wasn't dead, then thinking her death was all my fault. I started saying incoherent things, and so I was sent to a psychiatric hospital.
I lay in my hospital bed all day, staring blankly at the ceiling.
As usual, Mom came to my room to give me my medicine.
"Xiao Chen, it's time for your medicine," she said. "Be good and take it. Then she'll come back."
When I heard that, I stopped resisting and obediently took the medicine.
Afterward, I asked Mom, "Has she come back?"
She didn't answer. She just cried and left the room. She didn't dare stay longer, because she never knew when I might have another episode. I thought to myself: If I could live my life over, I would love you properly.
The sunlight fell across the windowsill. In an instant, I thought I saw Yao Jin. I slowly got up and walked over... It really was A Jin! She was back. She smiled at me and held out her hand.
"A Jin... I'm coming to be with you."
Bang--
Beep beep beep--
