Pre-release: Summer Outside the Window, a divorced, mature woman bottom x a younger, reserved top
Twenty-eight-year-old Jiang Xiwang has just divorced and returned to her hometown to recover. There, she meets Xia Youqing, the little girl who lived next door when they were children. After many years apart, they both return to the small town: one with a marriage in ruins, the other depressed and despondent.
One's marriage may be broken, but she still yearns for life. The other is depressed and despondent, yet works hard to overcome it and live positively.
The story will span roughly three to five years. It will have an HE ending, though there will be twists and turns along the way.
The main story is now complete. The ending is somewhat open. I chose to have Ding Lan make a big scene of it, so they won't end up marrying anyone. In a sense, that's a good thing: they won't have to betray themselves and start a family just to conform to the times. But I also have to consider that, after everything blows up, how can they go on loving each other as they did before? I can't fight reality from the perspective of the era, so I can only leave it to time, which can heal anything.
The bonus story will take place ten years later. Zhong Xian and Feng Qing will end up together. There's no need to be sad. Read the bonus story too, and you'll see that it all ends with a very happy HE.
If you could have only one summer in this life, how would you come to terms with it and find forgiveness over the course of a long life?
* Childhood friends reunited after time apart + one of the rare rural college-educated women * the factory's most beautiful girl,
Set in the countryside of the 1990s, with a realistic tone. This is about breaking free from the shackles of convention and feudalism. We talk about love, ideals, you and me.
“Feng Qing, Feng Qing.”
“I'm here.”
“You're so annoying. How can anyone like you when you always look so grumpy?”
“Didn't you say I looked good when I smiled?”
“You don't smile at me anymore. You only smile at those men.”
“I don't smile at men.”
“Why don't you smile at him? Aren't you going to marry him?”
“That's right. I'm going to marry him, so I don't smile at you anymore.”
“When are you getting married?”
“I don't know. Maybe after the New Year. They haven't set a date yet.”
“Get married in spring. Not summer.”
“Why?”
“Get married in a season that has nothing to do with me anymore. Autumn or spring, either is fine. Winter's too cold, so not that. Isn't spring full
of hope and new life? It's a good omen.”
Zhong Xian, you're all I have.
The clear moonlight that once fell on my shoulder, is it shining on you now, too?
Theme: Breaking free from convention and constraints
Future is both a good and a bad word. The future is promising and equally bleak. I wish the two of them in this article a bright future.
