Yan Sheng, a rookie screenwriter just starting out, posted online accusing a senior of claiming credit for her work. While netizens flooded the comments with, "Who do you think you are?", movie star Song Chuyan reposted her post with the caption: "It's so hard for a young screenwriter to stand up for her rights. Keep going."
Yan Sheng and Song Chuyan grew up together as childhood sweethearts. Everyone around them assumed they would naturally become a couple and pursue the dreams they had held onto for years.
But no one could have imagined that the summer they came of age, he would lose his dream, and she would lose him.
Song Chuyan was interviewed years later.
The reporter asked him: "A lot of people know that you insisted on debuting as an actor, and as soon as you became popular, you admitted you'd been in love with a girl for years. People have recently found some of your high school photos and are curious: was the girl you were talking about screenwriter Yan Sheng?"
Song Chuyan, usually so at ease in interviews, gave a rare, shy smile. "Yes. I'm so glad I found her again."
[Yan Sheng: Under the pretense of being a fan, I secretly, yet openly, love that boy all over again.]
Early story: Yan Sheng, a top student who wants to become a novelist, x Song Chuyan, an arts student specializing in Chinese dance who wants to become a dancer
Later story: Yan Sheng, a rookie screenwriter, x Song Chuyan, a movie star
Important notes:
1. Happy ending. No real-life inspirations, so don't read anyone into the characters. Anyone who does will jinx them.
2. Although the male lead debuted through Chinese dance, he started out with an acting contract. He was never an idol, had no dating ban, and graduated from a proper acting academy.
3. The story has two parts, marked by volume. A small portion of the first part is set at school, but I'm not sure how much. Read with caution if that's not your thing.
A short excerpt:
At the press conference for his first appearance after joining an entertainment company, Yan Sheng sat below the stage, lost in the crowd.
Song Chuyan didn't yet know that the girl he'd loved for so long was sitting in the most secluded corner of the audience, cheering for him from afar and conveying all her feelings to him this way.
From that moment on, Song Chuyan became someone Yan Sheng could no longer mention to anyone.
She would just be a fan. At least then she could openly say, "I love you."
Theme: Love fiercely in this brief life.
