◎ Daughter of the Minister of Rites x newly prominent young heir in the capital
◎ My next historical novel, Jade Terrace in Spring, is looking for readers to add it to their collections TT! Blurb at the bottom~
*1
The young lady of the Ruan family modestly considered herself untalented. In life, she asked for only four things:
To tend her flowers and plants,
To read her scriptures and books,
To daydream when she had nothing to do,
And to marry a husband of her choosing.
Ruan Mingyu achieved the first three, but it seemed someone had thrown a wrench into the fourth.
“Why has that hooligan come around again?”
On the day she came of age, her father found her a marriage that was more or less a good match.
The young lord was indeed something of an idler, but for the Ruan family, who had been a respected scholarly clan for generations, it wasn’t as though she were marrying above her station.
But then she suddenly remembered the jar of wine she and that hooligan had buried beneath the pear tree.
“You said you’d marry me back then. So, was it you?”

When Ye Jingshan was sixteen, his entire family moved to the capital.
Everyone said the Ruan family had a young lady so beautiful she was famed throughout the capital. Naturally, he thought he ought to catch a glimpse of her.
Then one day, with nothing better to do, he climbed onto the wall of the neighboring courtyard.
Ye Jingshan was stunned: So the Ruan family’s young lady lived right next door to him?!
She liked flowers and plants, so he buried rare flower seeds in her courtyard.
She suffered from insomnia at night, so he asked someone to find the finest agarwood for her.
She liked teasing cats, so he spent a fortune buying one and put it in her courtyard.
The young woman was speechless. “What exactly are you trying to do?”
Ye Jingshan sat on the courtyard wall, grinning infuriatingly. “Looking at my future wife.”
Ruan Mingyu: ...Are you sick or something?
"Little scene"
Everyone said spring peach blossoms were the most radiant of all, but one person disagreed.
“Pear blossoms are pure and spirited, while spring peaches are vivid. Each has its own beauty.”
Ye Jingshan gently shook a branch, and the courtyard filled with the sight of spring snow drifting down.
“What you said isn’t quite right.”
He gently plucked a petal from the young woman’s hair and just as gently closed his hand around it.
“Spring peach blossoms stretch for a hundred thousand li, frost-white pears grace countless homes. Only those as bright as the moon and pure as jade can enter my heart.”
“Ruan Mingyu, do you understand?”
#Once you give your word, you must keep it. Whoever goes back on theirs is a puppy#
*The official system is modeled after the Tang dynasty, in a fictional Tang setting.
*Piracy protection is set to 90%. Writing is hard, so please support the official version =3=
Reader’s Guide:
1. Gentle, quiet, adorable young lady x clingy, talkative, roguish young lord
2. One-on-one, mutually faithful, happy ending, three-year age gap, kindergarten-level political intrigue. Entirely fictional with some original worldbuilding, and very, very loosely based on anything! As always, a slow-burn sweet romance.
3. Childhood friends brought together by fate, bickering like an old married couple. Their teasing and flirtatious back-and-forth is even sweeter.
4. The first half focuses more on romance, the latter half more on plot. Overall, it should be fairly plot-driven, but the extras will be sweet.

Xianyue first met Luo Qianzhi during the hundred-day mourning period for the late Emperor.
At the time, she was fretting over the upcoming selection of palace consorts, and assumed the visitor was the distant nephew her mother had chosen for her.
According to rumors in the capital, Luo Qianzhi was a successful candidate in the palace examinations. Even before the late Emperor passed away, he had been wholly devoted to his official career and was known as a ruthless, ill-fated star. Everyone said he was destined to become a powerful minister.
But when Xianyue met his gaze, she read curiosity and contemplation in his eyes...
And just a touch of shyness?!
**
The next time Xianyue saw Luo Qianzhi, he was once again at her home discussing matters with her father.
Her mother asked what she thought of this newly prominent man in the capital.
After a moment’s thought, she answered: He seemed steady, but not rigid. His manners were proper, and he was fairly handsome. He didn’t seem like the ill-fated star the rumors described. He must be a gentleman.
Just then, the “gentleman” stood and walked over. “If you don’t want to enter the palace, you could consider me.”
Xianyue knew he had an ulterior motive.
They’d only met a few times. How could that be love?
But with the situation so urgent, she carefully weighed the pros and cons. Hearing her father and mother coax her again and again, she had no choice but to grit her teeth and marry him.
**
Later on...
An old case was reopened, and the entire court was thrown into an uproar.
Hatred surged, and blood washed over the Jade Terrace.
Being a powerful minister wasn’t easy, and the peaceful life they had imagined lasted only a few days.
Xianyue stayed by Qianzhi’s side as they made their way through one obstacle after another, from being framed and imprisoned to overthrowing the cabinet.
Qianzhi once told her that it was hard to find peace in a person’s heart. A calm heart could be steadfast, an unbreakable shield that could help one survive desperate circumstances.
In truth, Xianyue had always wanted nothing more than a peaceful, stable life.
It was just that in the past, she wanted to enjoy an easy life, eating and sleeping to her heart’s content. Now, she wanted to clear her name and live free of illness and calamity.
#Her name means moon, and she is indeed the bright moon that dispels his gloom and lights up his whole life.
