Xia Ning was waiting at the station, head bowed as she played on her phone with a mask on. It was so hot that she'd twisted her hair up into a bun. Suddenly, a young man grabbed her arm and stopped in front of her. She looked up in surprise. He let go, apologized, and said he'd mistaken her for someone else. As he walked away, she caught a faint scent of tobacco. After that, Xia Ning kept hoping to run into him again. At last, she did. She went up and grabbed his arm. "Sorry, I mistook you for someone too. Now we're even, right?"
Then she began pursuing him relentlessly. Xia Ning thought Wen Xu was cold to everyone, until one day she saw him holding Pei Yanning and begging her not to leave. But he was still left behind.
Xia Ning thought that someday Wen Xu would notice her. For three years, she stayed by his side, watching him establish a company through his own hard work.
When Pei Yanning returned to the country, Xia Ning watched Wen Xu get drunk and call Pei Yanning's name over and over. At last, she understood that her companionship could never compare to the person in his heart.
Xia Ning chose the major she loved and prepared to study abroad.
Later, while overseas, Xia Ning heard that Pei Yanning and Wen Xu had gotten together. She lay on the sofa, sobbing uncontrollably.
