I worked on this story for over three years. During that time, real-life busyness, poor health, and other issues affected the update schedule several times. I'm grateful to the readers who stayed with me. Words can't express my thanks, so this story is and will always be free.
[The "False" Main Plot]
Yao Qi was born in an inn for demon hunters. After a childhood companion, who had grown up with him, was brutally murdered and left with only their skin behind, he vows to become a demon hunter and uncover the truth. With help from the young master of the Tong family, a renowned demon-hunting clan, he leaves the inn and sets out on the path of a demon hunter. By chance, he becomes the vessel for an ancient divine demon before it can regain its physical form. The two reach an agreement and help each other for their mutual benefit, embarking on an adventure together. But in the end, Yao Qi discovers that the divine demon's goal was never to escape his body. It wanted...
[What This Story Is Really About]
↑ The two characters mentioned in the simple blurb above are the novel's dual protagonists. To put their character types bluntly, they're a [scumbag] and a [saint]. The story has many complicated subplots, but its main thread is simple: each of them pursues or protects the people and things they care about. They set off on journeys that begin together but take them in different directions, meet again at the end, and make a choice.
A slow-burn ensemble story with lots of buildup;
Many characters and plotlines, intertwined and intricately connected;
The perspective shifts around like a mad dog;
The main plot described above makes up only a small part of the story. The real truth emerges from the many intertwined subplots, which fit together piece by piece.
[Please Note]
- The protagonist, Yao Qi, has no romantic storyline and almost no flirtation. However, the supporting characters have plenty of romantic storylines, which play an important part in driving the plot. The author's view is that love knows no gender or species, so romances of any orientation may appear.
- A heads-up: this story is extremely eclectic and includes a bit of everything. The style and pacing are still finding their footing early on, but, in my opinion, settle down around the middle of Volume Two. The characters and their storylines are also complicated and intertwined, so it's hard to know what to highlight in the blurb. (Of course, readers are welcome to take that as a problem with the author's ability.) I started writing this because I wanted to tell a story that overturns stereotypes. Characters who are not what they seem, plot twists, and deceptive narrative turns appear frequently, so here are the "stereotypes" for each volume. Take your pick.
Volume One: A straightforward, hot-blooded coming-of-age story about fighting monsters, clearing stages, and leveling up.
Volume Two: A romantic mystery with flashbacks and a montage-like structure.
Volume Three: A story of the many sides of life, told through parallel perspectives. Focuses on class oppression and the choices of the underclass.
Volume Four: A fantasy adventure. Focuses on three parallel storylines and connecting scenes through keywords.
Volume Five: Even more eclectic than the rest, and impossible to sum up in a few words. It's also the longest volume, where all the earlier foreshadowing and character fates converge and collide.
- Nearly every major character has a story of their own. Feel free to read this as if you were exploring and hunting for treasure, and see whether you find a character or story you like.
- The stories in the major subplots reflect and echo one another. You could think of them as pieces of a puzzle that make up the main story, but each piece also forms its own complete picture when viewed up close.
- This story was written over a long stretch of time, and the early prose and style are rather inexperienced. Some plot points and character portrayals may make readers uncomfortable, but many of them are foreshadowing and will be explored in depth later. (For example, some earlier descriptions involving "legitimate and illegitimate heirs" are based on a slaveholding society. The story does not promote or endorse the cult of legitimate heirs.) People are ends in themselves, not means.
- The story is lighthearted and humorous most of the time, though it gets a little heavy at key moments.
- Early on, readers will probably feel that the story jumps all over the place. But when writing each segment, I stuck to one guiding principle: make it interesting, and don't waste the reader's time. Naturally, that's just my subjective intention, and the result may not live up to it. If you have the time and interest, please consider giving the story a chance. Of course, every reader's time is precious, and there's no need to spend it on a subject that doesn't interest you.
Finally, thank you for reading this rambling blurb all the way to the end. I hope life treats you well!
Theme: Great wisdom borders on the uncanny, and deep love is often short-lived.
Hey, it's actually 5.20 Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! So only the daughter of the wife and daughter survived. I thought that the wife and daughter were rescued and it was taken away. It turns out that the daughter still appeared, so the head of the Wan family also passed away, right? 😭 😭 Anyway, it's great that the story has come to a successful conclusion. Everything is a new beginning and a new journey.
Tongtong [Let Me Kangkang] "It doesn't matter up, down, left, east, west, north, south..." This is a big bug for the author~
I will take the time to read this! Looking forward to your new work!
I haven't read a novel in a long time, and this one is finally finished!!
Congratulations on finishing the flower arrangement! It's so enjoyable to read this long story, one link after another is intertwined and fascinating, it's very exciting and beautiful! Meeting my wife was really just a coincidence. I happened to see Yuwan recommending herself in Jinjiang Book Forum. To be honest, I initially thought that Yu Wan was written and played by a great master. His writing style is steady and sophisticated, and he was perfect as soon as he debuted! Being able to spend three years of my writing career with Yu Wan, I feel very honored to see "Monster Hunting Record". The characters created by Yuwan are all wonderful and colorful. I can't forget the part in Qingfang that only has everyone's transcripts but does not show whose transcripts it is. You can tell who is speaking even if the character is not indicated. At first, I thought Guan was the child of the master of Qingfang, but it turned out that the master was a woman, hahaha. But I have to say that the owner of the shop is truly in love with Jiang. The last sight of their heads at the leech demon's place was really shocking. Whether it is Yao Qi who is no longer a human being or Tong Wu who is sincere as a saint, the good big brother Tong Su or Teacher Shen who only knows who is swimming naked when the tide goes out, the arrogant and bright Qu Qiu Yi or Xi Bai who has a place to sing... They are all very vivid on the page! The characters of Fish Ball are so well developed that every review is overshadowed by being too long-winded. Fishball is very good at writing. There is no redundant words at all. It is concise and precise, just like a doctor's scalpel. When flowers grow on the scalpel, the text has both poetic language and fable-like profound philosophy. Let me brag about the teacher! I really like the world of Yuwan. Although it is cruel and desperate, the most wonderful light of humanity can always shine out in the most desperate world. Therefore, Yao Qi later became Feng Rui. Although congratulations to Yao Qi for realizing his long-cherished dream and pursuing purity, Yao Qi is really happy to become a woman, although it feels like he doesn't care about gender. Congratulations to Yao Qi for surviving after seeing the purity he has pursued all his life. This is also my little selfishness as a reader. It would be too sad to see the protagonist who has been along the way die in the end. I also wish Mengmeng success! Mengmeng is really a reversal, the unluckiest guy in the world, brother. Being a human being and a demon, you have been planning for thousands of years just to become an adult. He has extraordinary strength. First he is the first person to hunt monsters, and then he is the top three among monsters. As expected, our brother Mengmeng must be the best if he wants to do it, whether as a human or as a monster. I want to watch the extras of Mengmeng when I have the chance. I feel like Yao Qi's Wonderful Life is not much better than Yao Qi's wonderful life. In fact, I feel that Tong Teng doesn't need to worry too much about Yao Qi and Mengmei meeting up. Mengmei doesn't want to deal with this human who is even more perverted than the demon at all, and he is unconditionally cheating! Mengmeng probably never wants to meet Yao Qi in this life, hahaha. Finally, there is another protagonist in our article, Tong Wu! I always feel that Tong Wu's perspective is easier to write, after all, Brother Yao Qi is still too perverted. But as the main perspective, it is too difficult to be calculated and forced all the way. I'm also very curious about how he spent those three long nights when he was forced to stay away from his family and friends while carrying Hong Fu's hatred. In the end, Hong Fu died, so he got what he wanted, at least he kept Feng Ruoqi alive. I don't know if Gui knew that Qi was also dead when he died. It would be a pity if he didn't know. Tong Wu can be regarded as a selfish character of a saint. He was wandering all the way, but fortunately he finally came to a successful conclusion and reconnected with the head of the Man family. The most regrettable thing is that I didn't even see the last side of my eldest brother, oh my eldest brother, my eldest brother, I didn't even see the little boy I miss so much. What's wrong with Yao Qi asking his brothers to meet each other? What Teacher Shen loves most is himself, and he will drag Tong Su to accompany him even if he dies. But I have to say that this kid is scheming and talented. Even Feng Ruo affirms his talent and rejects his love brain. To make important decisions, it is better to develop slowly than to fall in love and get involved in a group. The death of Boss Jade is the most regrettable, because a piece of false news caused chaos and cost him his life. That was Yao Qi, how could he die so easily? It can only be said that the child controls the mother's life, and those who pursue immortality die the most carelessly. Teacher Xin, who is determined to preserve his hard work even if he is dead, as a historian is truly worthy of his heart, of heaven and of earth. It's really surprising, I thought I could survive until the finale. The proud and upright Man Ling and Hai Pinghou's bickering at the end made me so happy. I hope the beautiful and vicious Guan Qingzhi can let go of me. Hey, after talking for a long time, I forgot to wish Guan Qingzhi Tongluo a happy marriage! Happy wedding, Su Luo, Guan Qingzhi. So the little maid in the back was successfully rescued, right? Speaking of which, I thought that when my eldest brother died, the moray eels would eat the Tong family's parents, but it turned out that there was still one left. I thought too darkly, so I cut myself off. In the end, no matter what, everyone is reunited, everything is over, and it will only get better and better in the future! I also hope that Yao Qi Mengmeng will not be caught later and continue to make trouble! It's great that Sister Qu's hand can grow back. It always feels like a new beginning, symbolizing the beginning of more and more happiness in the future. Then I didn't expect that Ah Huang would become a mother when she appeared again. Time flies so fast (for no reason). Although from the time Boss Yu decided to appoint Ah Huang as the proprietress, he knew that if nothing unexpected happened later, Ah Huang would inherit the inn, but this is what happened. In the end, it was Ah Huang who stayed in place. How could Ah Huang, who had no spiritual power, suppress the group of demons? At the end, there are only Ah Huang and Wan Dan in the inn, right? Did Wan Dan miss Yao Qiqi's name? Wan Dan was the child of Ah Huang and that Wan family suitor. Why didn't Wan Dan's father come out? Then I was still very curious about where Xi Ping (the demon hunter who brought Yao Qi Ah Huang and the three of them here, this is probably his name, it's been so long that I can't remember) picked up the little Eight Yao Qi Ah Huang. Finally, as for why Yao Qi has no talent but has flesh and blood to attract monsters and his life experience, just treat it as a little easter egg. I still hope it will have results. Teacher, I want to watch the extra episode of Su Guan's wedding (order food). Everyone comes out in a lively manner and holds the wedding happily. I also want to see the sequel to Yao Qi Meng Meng. That's what's so good about the group portraits. They are so happy and lively that they die, my boss, Mr. Tong, Dr. Li (crying loudly). Although I know it's a plot development, it's still sad to see people die. Finally, let's express our feelings about the loyalty of the Si family. They have been dormant for thousands of years just for the imperial court, but no one has rebelled in the process. Then let's express our feelings about the hearts of parents in the world. The cunning and cunning Si You could not let go of Si Chu even after death. Although Xiao Chu was a goose, he trusted and sincerely trusted his father. It doesn't matter, it's a good thing that father and son died together in the end, and they will be father and son holding hands together in the next life. So what happened to the little Taoist priest in the end, there was no news about Du Yanzi in the future. There is no news from Ning clan. I hope that demon hunters can solve the problem of life span as soon as possible. Good people should live a long life. Finally, kiss Yuwan. Yuwan is a great writer. Thank you Yuwan for bringing us such a wonderful story! I also wish Yu Wan good health as soon as possible. To be honest, I was really worried when I saw Yu Wan going to the hospital in poor health. I wish Yu Wan a speedy recovery and good luck. I'm also looking forward to Yu Wan's new work, see you there, Wan. Finally, I wish Fishball a happy Children's Day in advance! I originally planned to post it again on June 1st, but I really like this work. I can't wait until Children's Day. After reading it, I immediately finished typing a long paragraph with excitement, and it was all in one breath. Yu Wan's writing was so good that my words were full of energy. I hope Wan Wan doesn't think I'm too verbose. I will follow fishballs for the rest of my life! Happy Children's Day, Maru.
Yao Qi keeps jumping around like this
Yao Qi: Leave sadness to others and happiness to yourself
Ah????? What did you eat????!
This is the meaning of historian
Teacher Xin ah ah ah ah ah 😭
