Love as Therapy

One Piece Arc Synopsis:

Along the Grand Line sails a navy feared by even the most villainous pirates.

Word has it that the navy is led by a red-haired devil. Nearly every pirate who crosses paths with her gets hunted to the ends of the earth, then thrown in prison. Just hearing that woman's name is enough to make any pirate with a guilty conscience tremble from head to toe.

"Don't say her name! She's terrifying. I'd rather run into an admiral than that red devil!"

Far away, on the edge of the Grand Line in a certain Calm Belt, the red-haired devil herself sneezed. She rubbed her face with one hand while floating in the sea on a plank, fishing with the other.

Just then, a kind soul passing through the nearby waters had received a distress call and come to the rescue, riding across the ice on a bicycle. He reached out to the girl who served under his colleague, Admiral Kizaru. (By a generous interpretation, that made her his subordinate too.)

"I was wondering who was calling for help. It's been a long time, Vice Admiral Hanna."

But the red-haired girl did not hurry to take his hand. She picked up a transponder snail and, keeping her face perfectly expressionless while putting fear into her voice, performed on the spot: "This is terrifying! There's a horrible marine here with me. Please, you have to come save me! If you rescue me, I'll do anything you ask, even give you my body."

"..."

The terrifying marine himself, Admiral Aokiji, nearly pulled his hand back with a tremble.

One day in the future, this kind soul would say that he had once witnessed Vice Admiral Hanna face down a bolt of lightning, bravely answer the questions of her superior, Admiral Kizaru, and rescue her subordinate, Major Portgas, from the execution platform.

"So what? He's not the child of a criminal. He's Major Portgas, who has helped me capture at least a hundred vicious pirates. He's one of the most important allies in the navy." That was how the red-haired marine, whose strength was one-half (the world's strongest plus the world's weakest), answered the whole world.

This is a series of standalone arcs. Aside from the doctor Sato Mirai and her junior colleague Wu Nuheng, who appear throughout, each arc has its own male and female leads. There is a lot of OOC characterization, so if that's not your thing, don't put yourself through it. The timeline generally moves forward. Within each arc, the narration uses second-person "you"; outside the arcs, it uses third-person names.
