Lian Qiang and Chi Xingji were childhood sweethearts who married young.

Their only regret was that Lian Qiang had suffered a terrible accident when she was younger. Plagued by pain, she could no longer cultivate. The two drifted farther and farther apart on the path of cultivation, until all Lian Qiang could do was gaze up at him amid everyone's envious whispers.

But the young, handsome immortal stopped before her and said, "Excuse me, may I pass?"

Lian Qiang felt that the time she'd spent with him back then... had been completely wasted.

Chi Xingji had a secret no one knew: he had always felt guilty for failing to protect his wife when they were young.

When the immortals heard the name Ning Wugou, they always thought first of the obscure shadow who followed Cheng Xiangzhao.

She seemed endlessly patient, putting up with every hardship inflicted by her superior so that Cheng Xiangzhao could enjoy everything without restraint.

Even after she left without a word, Cheng Xiangzhao could never stop thinking of her, hoping that one day they would meet again.

Even in his darkest hour, Cheng Xiangzhao believed they would surely meet again. It was the conviction he clung to most fiercely.

But the immortal never came. And day by day, Cheng Xiangzhao's heart became unrecognizable.

Only when the shadow of someone by his side overlapped with the immortal in his memories did he realize he had been wrong.

But it was too late.
