During her senior year of high school, Lu Cheng, who was always surrounded by admirers, fell for Cen Qing, the refined and gentle new transfer student. He pursued her, protected her at every turn, and spoiled her rotten.
But then Lu Cheng's childhood friend, Jian Ting, returned from overseas. Just when Cen Qing loved him most, Lu Cheng broke up with her.
Later, Cen Qing got into Nanda, where she ran into Lu Cheng again.
Scene 1:
Lu Cheng cornered Cen Qing against a wall and braced one hand against it.
"Cen Qing, I was wrong. Will you come back to me?"
Cen Qing moved his hand aside.
"Lu Cheng, you should know that you have no right to miss someone you pushed away yourself."
Scene 2:
Near the end of college, Lu Cheng asked Cen Qing to meet him.
At the café, Lu Cheng looked at her.
"Cen Qing, do you know what the thing I regret most in my life is?"
Cen Qing looked at him too, but said nothing.
"Breaking up with you back then."
Cen Qing stared at him, her expression unchanged, as if she were looking at a stranger.
"I really regret pushing you away with my own hands. Back then, I thought you were just passing through my life. But I eventually realized I couldn't forget you at all. I knew you were coming here for college, and I was so happy to run into you here. But I regret that I couldn't find my way back into your heart."
"Lu Cheng, after we broke up, I learned that people who part ways grow distant over time, no matter how close they once were."
"Lu Cheng, time will fade everything, and distance will make things easier for us."
After saying that, Cen Qing picked up her bag and walked out of the café.
