Xie Yi looks at the report card, whose grades he probably couldn't get even if he copied the answers, and quietly puts on an oxygen mask.

"Heaven wants me dead."

When Xie Yi learns that his deskmate is a true academic genius, he sits bolt upright on his deathbed.

"Heaven has finally thrown me a lifeline!"

But when his deskmate appears, Xie Yi spots the face of the guy he'd been at odds with from elementary school all the way through high school. He lifts the lid of his coffin and lies back down.

After falling asleep, Xie Yi wakes up in his second year of high school, having suddenly traveled back from a third-rate university. Everything around him has changed beyond recognition.

He has gone from being dead last for years to becoming the top student in his grade, with his name at the top of the rankings.

His parents, who had already passed away, are now alive and well. When they see him again, they clasp his hands tightly. "Son, make sure you're first or second in the monthly exams!"

Xie Yi: "...I'll try to come last, and promise not to come second-to-last?"

The friends who used to waste their days doing nothing now gather around him every day, holding up their workbooks. "Academic god, can you show me how to solve this problem?"

Xie Yi: "...If I teach you, would you actually learn it?"

The person he used to dislike most, Xu Yang, has become his deskmate, and is the only person whose existence overlaps with his in this parallel timeline.
