Dr. Gu Made the First Move!

Ran Xi used to like Gu Qingtu. It was a huge affair, the talk of the whole city.

Her friends were baffled. "How come we never knew?"

Ran Xi blinked. "It was huge! On a rainy night, I got drunk and hugged my husky, talking about her all night. I howled and cried, and the dog barked."

The dog-to-dog gossip was so rampant that even the dog at her grandmother's house in the suburbs knew who she liked.

Ran Xi secretly did countless romantic things for Gu Qingtu, but Gu Qingtu always kept her at arm's length, then left without a word.

When they met again, Ran Xi no longer felt anything. She told herself she mustn't fall for her.

At most, she might show up at her place in the middle of the night, make her put a screen protector on her phone, and torment her.

Gu Qingtu's fingers were long and slender, and her movements quick. Eyes lowered, she asked, "You don't know how?"

"Of course I do. I'm a professional hand model. My fingers are nimble." She leaned close to Gu Qingtu's ear and breathed against it, then fastened the top button of her shirt. Her laugh was sweet. "And I know how to do more than this..."

Gu Qingtu's hands paused. Her ears tingled, and her face flushed red.

After a long moment, she unexpectedly took Ran Xi's wrist and stroked it. "Really?"

They went back and forth all night. Ran Xi forgot who had suggested they "give it a try," and she also forgot that those hands, which had spent years holding a scalpel, were pretty skillful at other things too.

Their relationship was vague and undefined. No touching where they shouldn't, just bedmates and lovers. That was how Ran Xi labeled it, assuming Gu Qingtu saw it the same way.

Even when they were being intimate, Ran Xi could keep a tiny bit of her wits about her. So when Gu Qingtu, usually so aloof, held her in the throes of passion that night and said, "You smell so good. I want to be with you forever," Ran Xi promptly fainted.

Ran Xi: I got to freeload for decades?!

Gu Qingtu: ...

Ran Xi: She took that as a yes...

"You liked me all along? It was a huge affair?"

"No, it wasn't. Don't make things up."

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Ran Xi pulled away the hand sneaking around her waist. "Dr. Gu, you're really... even more of a dog than a dog..."

The story of two people with a thing for hands.

Those hands pulled one of them out of the mud by day, and sent her soaring to cloud nine by night.
